Windows Azure Pack ends on 12 January 2027. If you were a Cloud OS Network provider, here is a way off it.
On 12 January 2027 Microsoft ends support for Windows Azure Pack, Windows Server 2016 and Hyper-V Server 2016 — the day after System Center 2016. That is the whole platform a generation of service providers built their self-service clouds on, under the Cloud OS Network banner. If you still run WAP tenants in 2026, or you looked at Azure Stack Hub and Azure Local and did not find your business in either, this is an offer for you: a free assessment of your estate, and six migration slots onto a platform you own.
The date is Microsoft's, not ours
The lifecycle pages say it plainly. Windows Azure Pack follows the Fixed Lifecycle Policy; mainstream support ended in January 2022, and extended support ends in January 2027 — after which there are no security updates, no assisted support and no technical content updates. The rest of the 2016 stack goes at the same time.

Who this is for
Service providers who joined the Cloud OS Network — or built the same stack on their own — and still serve customers from Windows Azure Pack in 2026: VM clouds on Hyper-V, Web Sites on IIS, SQL databases as a service, all sold through the WAP tenant portal.
Microsoft's current answers are Azure Stack Hub and Azure Local (the former Azure Stack HCI, renamed in November 2024). Both are supported products, and for many providers one of them is the right move. This offer is for the providers for whom neither fits: the ones who want to own the platform they sell, run it on hardware they choose, and not have the next end-of-support date decided for them.
What you get instead
The ATAILA Service Provider Edition: the same multi-tenant software that runs ATAILA Cloud, licensed to run in your own datacentre for your own customers, under your own brand. Your team operates it; ATAILA stays behind you with updates, security fixes and L3 support.
What your tenants get is a superset of what WAP gave them:
- Virtual machines, databases and websites in their own landing zone — provisioned in minutes, not tickets.
- VDI and developer onboarding — a ready cloud workstation per developer, connected to the tenant's own environments.
- The project factory — one manifest creates the whole environment (network, databases, storage, DNS, secrets, registry, CI/CD, monitoring), with a governed DEV → UAT → PROD release pipeline in which nobody's AI touches production unreviewed.
- A private AI layer — an AI gateway, a model library and assistants running on GPUs in your datacentre, so your customers use AI without their data leaving your building.
Underneath it is open source from the hypervisor up — Proxmox, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, MinIO, Keycloak — on standard x86 servers, MikroTik networking and NVIDIA GPUs where you want AI. It runs on almost any hardware that runs an open-source stack, including the servers you already own.
The platform itself is licensed per physical node — no per-VM, per-core or per-workload tax on anything you run — and every customer receives its full source code under a commercial licence with an exit guarantee. It is designed to run air-gapped: no phone-home, no licence server, no internet required to operate.
Windows workloads move with you. Windows Server, IIS/.NET applications and SQL Server run as tenant virtual machines on the platform's Proxmox hosts, next to Linux, PostgreSQL and containers. You keep your Microsoft licensing — SPLA or CSP — exactly as today. Each of the three WAP service types (VM clouds, Web Sites, SQL databases) has a defined destination in the migration plan.

Why us
ATAILA's founder deployed Windows Azure Pack for service providers across Central and Eastern Europe with a Microsoft deployment partner, in the Cloud OS Network years. The platform ATAILA runs today is the same idea a decade on — self-service, multi-tenant, in the provider's own datacentre — rebuilt on open source with no vendor end date attached.
It is real and operated, not a roadmap: it runs this site, ATAILA's own cloud, and a certification organization's core application in production since September 2026. The editions page describes the three ways to run it; the Service Provider Edition is the one this offer is about.
The bigger picture
This offer is the first step of a longer commitment. ATAILA intends to become the primary software vendor for European service providers who run their own cloud — the stack the Cloud OS Network generation should have been given after Windows Azure Pack, and was not: built on open source, with the source code in the provider's hands, designed to run air-gapped, licensed per node with no tax on any workload, and comparable to the hyperscalers for the services 90% of workloads use. We take six migrations because six is what we can do well before the date. If the slots are gone by the time you write, the free assessment still stands, and we will tell you honestly when the next slot opens rather than sell you a date we cannot keep.

Write two sentences on the form — who you are, roughly how many tenants you run on WAP — and use the code wap-eol-2027 so it reaches the founder directly. He answers personally; the first conversation is about your estate, not about us.
